A man dies after his Tesla Model S gets hit by a dump truck, likely the first death in the Model S under “regular traffic conditions”
Electrek reports that a man tragically died this week after his Tesla Model S was hit by a dump truck in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The accident is likely the first instance of a death in the Model S under “regular traffic conditions”. This would be the fourth known instance of a death following a Model S crash. All 4 were under very extreme conditions such as driving of a cliff, or loss of control in a high speed police chase or, being hit by a dump truck.
The Model S has 5-star ratings from NHTSA and the lowest probability of injury of any car ever tested by the agency but it is not totally indestructible. Some impacts still are devastating!
As did Electrek, we offer our deepest condolences to the family.
